How Are You Celebrating Valentine’s Day?

As those of you with children know, it’s not easy to get out and have a romantic evening with your husband or wife anymore.  What are you all doing to celebrate?  Need a few ideas for that gotta-stay-home-because-we-have-no-sitter-dilema?  We’re here to help.

For ideas as a family:

  • How about Chinese take-out and a FREE Redbox Movie rental?  Today only, enter the promo code HEART at a Redbox kiosk for a free, one-night DVD rental.
  • Drag out the blankets and pillows and create a bed on the living room floor to snuggle and watch your favorite show – or in our house – hours of DVR’d shows.
  • Have an outdoor fire pit?  Make s’mores!  Who can resist a s’more, really?
  • Game night – Twister, Life, and Monopoly, oh my!
  • Bake some yummy Valentine’s treats together.

After the kids go to bed, why not:

  • Break out the champagne glasses, pour a little bubbly and write love notes to one another.
  • Save a special dessert for you and your love – chocolate fondue is one of my favorites!
  • Play the “newlywed game” – click here for a free printable.

Have some more fun ideas?  We’d love to hear from you.  Until then, HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!

Sweethearts for Crisis Nursery Fundraising Gala

MOMs Club of Norterra-Phoenix would like to invite you to a Special Event

Picture On Saturday, February 11, 2012, the MOMS Club of Norterra will hold a Fundraising Gala “Sweethearts for Crisis Nursery” at Dave and Buster’s Private Showroom at Desert Ridge from 6pm until 10pm. The event will feature a dynamic program including dinner, music and LIVE DOLLAR AUCTION.  The Auction will be hosted by the Valley’s own, Dave Pratt, long-time radio personality and the host of the morning show on 103.9, Dave Pratt Live!

The mission is to raise funds through the Gala, of which, 100% of proceeds will be donated to Crisis Nursery of Phoenix! As a local MOMS Club Chapter, their members are dedicated to fundraising opportunities that support local charities and community outreach programs.

Ticket prices are $30 which includes an Italian Feast, dessert, coffee, soda & water.  A cash bar will also be available. What a wonderful way to enjoy a beautiful evening with your sweetheart, spend whatever funds that you would normally spend on Valentines Day dinner and at the same time support a GREAT cause!

Dollar Auction: So you want to know what a dollar auction is all about?  Well the name can in fact be misleading because there is not much bidding involved.  It is more like a bingo game with a twist.  Donated items will be presented by the auctioneer.  Depending on the cost of the item.  It will cost you between $1-5 to “bid” on the item.  Once you place your “bid” in the collection area in the center of your table, you will hold your paddle in the air.  The auctioneer will begin pulling numbers out of the lottery bin.  The only numbers that can win are the ones with paddles in the air.  The auctioneer will continue to call numbers until there is a winner.  Just imagine your excitement when you win an amazing gift basket for $1, a $150 drill set for $3, or a photography package with a $400 value for $5!

Do you Drive-In?

Do you remember the excitement you had as a kid when you pulled into a drive-in movie with your family?  The man at the booth would count the number of people in your vehicle and tell you to turn your radio to a special channel.  You’d run up the hill to order a hot dog and an ice cream cone, then pull out those aluminum folding chairs to set up camp as your dad cranks up the volume on the radio.  Ahhh, why don’t we do these classic family nights anymore?  Well, probably because we’re too busy running to and from soccer practice, dance recitals, doctor’s appointments and to pick up that last minute gift for tomorrow’s birthday party.  If you can find that special night to spend as a family, why not pack up the van and head to the drive-ins?  There are two awesome locations here in the Phoenix area, one in Scottsdale and one in Glendale.  Check out www.westwinddriveins.com for all the details.  Prices are much more reasonable than your local Harkins or AMC, so get out there and make memories with your kids!

If you’ve gone in the past, leave us a comment and tell us about your expereince.
