Grady’s 1st Birthday Party

Well, after some serious denial, I am ready to admit that my baby boy is officially one.  His birthday was nearly a week ago, but I just wasn’t ready to come to terms with the fact that he’s a toddler.  It feels like just yesterday that I found out I was pregnant, sniff sniff!  After an amazing day with our little family on Friday, we kicked it into high gear and celebrated his pirate party (arrrrrg…) with our closest family and friends on Saturday.  I have to show off my favorite part of the party, the dessert table.  A GREAT BIG THANK YOU to Cuteology Cakes for creating the most amazing dessert bar imaginable.  Not only did it look adorable, every single thing was delicious.  And yes, I personally tasted each and every item.  Thanks for the addition to my love handles, Cutology Cakes (click here to view their website and tell them Ties & Tutus sent ya)!  =)

Alex’s Lemonade Stand

I was sitting at lunch talking to a friend about her son’s 3rd birthday party.  We were going back and forth on ideas, themes, locations and so much more.  Then I brought up that dreaded question all parents are asked when a child’s birthday is looming, “What can I get your son for his birthday?”  The typical answer is, “Oh, I don’t know.”  Thanks for the help, friend!  Well, much to my surprise she had an answer for me!  She said to donate the money we would normally spend on a gift to Alex’s Lemonade Stand.  Not sure what Alex’s Lemonade Stand is?

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004). In 2000, 4-year-old Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of supporters across the country carrying on her legacy of hope.

Your child can too hold an Alex’s Lemonade Stand birthday party.  All you have to do is register your child’s party online and notify your family and friends that in lieu of gifts, donations are being accepted in your child’s name.  Click here to read all about it!  Not only is this a great way of raising money for childhood cancer, it’s a great life lesson for our kiddos.  In my eyes, it’s a win-win.

If you are planning a party of any kind – birthday, baby or bridal shower, wedding, holidays – you must, and I repeat MUST check out Hostess with the Mostess.  This is an entertainer’s paradise.  While they don’t offer any planning services, they have a slew of ideas, photos, themes, recipes and so much more.  I’m embarrassed to say that when I discovered this site I spent hours planning dozens of hypothetical parties for every occasion imaginable.  Dog’s birthday?  Sure!  My son’s first tooth?  Yep, definitely need a party for that.  Because it’s Friday?  Why not?  Okay, I may have gone a bit overboard.  I promise you one thing, spend a little bit of time on this site and you will have the most chic, unique and amazing party.  What kinds of parties are you planning?

Chickabug

Chickabug is one of my new favorite sites.  It’s a haven for party planners, offering themes, personalized decorations, invitations and so much more.  With my son’s 1st birthday around the corner, I’m in party planning heaven (unbeknownst to my husband, shhhh!).
